Hello everyone, welcome to this A1 English listening practice video. Today, I want to talk about restaurants. A restaurant is a place where people go to eat. There are many kinds of restaurants. Some restaurants serve Italian food, and some serve Chinese food.

My favorite restaurant is a small place near my house. It's called 'The Happy Meal.' Let me tell you about it. When you go into the restaurant, you see a sign that says, 'Welcome.' The waiter or waitress will say, 'Hello, how are you?' You can say, 'I'm fine, thank you.' Then they will give you a menu. The menu has lots of food to choose from. You can see pictures of the food, and there are prices next to them. I like to sit by the window. It's nice to look outside while I eat. The tables are clean, and there are flowers on each table. The chairs are soft, and it feels comfortable to sit there. Sometimes, there is music playing in the background. It makes the meal more enjoyable.

我最喜欢的餐厅是家附近的一家小馆子，名叫“快乐美食”（The Happy Meal）。我来给大家讲讲这家店：走进餐厅，你会看到一块写着“欢迎光临”的牌子，服务员会主动打招呼说“您好，最近怎么样？”，你可以回答“我很好，谢谢”。之后他们会递给你一份菜单，菜单上有很多可供选择的菜品，还配有食物图片，旁边标注着价格。我喜欢坐在靠窗的位置，吃饭时能看看窗外的景色，感觉很惬意。店里的桌子都很干净，每张桌上还摆放着鲜花；椅子也软软的，坐起来特别舒服。有时候餐厅里还会播放背景音乐，让用餐体验更愉快。

The menu has appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Appetizers are small dishes you eat before the main meal. For example, you can have a salad or some soup. The main course is the biggest part of the meal. I usually order a burger or some chicken. Desserts are sweet, like cake or ice cream. They are my favorite part of the meal. When you are ready to order, the waiter will come to your table. They will ask, 'What would you like to eat today?' You can point to the menu and say, 'I'll have the burger, please.' They will write down your order and take it to the kitchen. Then you wait for your food. Sometimes, you can drink a glass of water or a soda while you wait. When the food comes, you can start eating. The burger is usually served with fries. The fries are hot and salty. I like to put ketchup on them. The burger has lettuce, tomato, and cheese inside. It tastes delicious. Sometimes, I also order a milkshake. It's thick and sweet, and it goes well with the burger.

菜单上有前菜、主菜和甜点。前菜是正餐前吃的小份菜品，比如沙拉或汤；主菜是一餐中分量最大的部分，我通常会点汉堡或者鸡肉；甜点则是甜甜的食物，像蛋糕或冰淇淋，这是我最喜欢的部分。当你准备好点餐时，服务员会走到桌前问：“今天想吃点什么呀？”你可以指着菜单说：“麻烦给我一份汉堡。”他们会记下你的订单送到厨房，接下来你就只需等待餐品上桌。等待的时候，你可以喝杯水或苏打水。食物端上来后，你就可以开始享用了——汉堡通常会搭配薯条，薯条热乎乎、咸滋滋的，我喜欢蘸着番茄酱吃；汉堡里面夹着生菜、番茄和芝士，味道特别棒。有时候我还会点一杯奶昔，浓稠又香甜，和汉堡搭配在一起特别合适。
