06 过去进行时 was/were + 现在分词
过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或一段时间正在进行的动作。
一、构成
was/were + 现在分词（动词的-ing 形式）
当主语是 I 以及第三人称单数时，用 was。
I was reading a book at eight o'clock last night.（昨晚八点我正在读书。）
He was playing basketball at that time.（那时他正在打篮球。）
当主语是第二人称及第一、三人称复数时，用 were。
You were watching TV when I came in.（我进来的时候你正在看电视。）
They were having a meeting yesterday afternoon.（昨天下午他们正在开会。）
二、用法
1. 表示过去某一时刻正在进行的动作。
What were you doing at nine o'clock last night?（昨晚九点你在做什么？）
She was singing a song when he entered the room.（他进入房间的时候她正在唱歌。）
2. 表示过去某一段时间内一直在进行的动作。
They were building a house last month.（上个月他们一直在建造一座房子。）
3. 常与表示过去的时间状语连用，如 at that time（在那时）、at this time yesterday（昨天这个时候）、from...to...（从……到……）等。
三、句式变化
1. 否定句：在 was/were 后加 not。
I was not sleeping at midnight.（午夜我没在睡觉。）
They weren't working from nine to eleven.（从九点到十一点他们没在工作。）
2. 一般疑问句：将 was/were 提到句首。
Were you reading at that time?（那时你在读书吗？）
Was he playing football yesterday afternoon?（昨天下午他在踢足球吗？）
3. 特殊疑问句：特殊疑问词 + was/were + 主语 + 现在分词 + …?
What were you doing at seven o'clock yesterday morning?（昨天早上七点你在做什么？）
Where was she singing at this time yesterday?（昨天这个时候她在哪里唱歌？）
